Salina M. Brown b. 1847 to Jesse and Martha Todd Workman Brown. Jesse Brown b. 1815 Barry Co., MO married widow, Martha Todd Workman b. 1817 on 18 Jun 1843 in Barry Co., MO. Martha had one daughter from her first marriage--Sarah Eliabeth Workman b. 8 Jan 1839 in Cassville, Barry Co., MO. Elizabeth married John Anderson Hilton b. 13 Oct 1829 in Scot Co., VA on 16 Mar 1854 in Cassville, Barry Co. Nine children were born to this union.

Jesse and Martha had five known children: Evelyn Mary and Rebecca Caroline (Twins) b. 1845; Salina M. b. 1847; Hariett b. 1849; and John. There has been some discrepancy in the names of the children and their birthdates so anyone having documentation, please let me know the dates.
Evelyn married a man by the name of Mullins.

Rebecca married James Huff in 1860 but because he refused to fight for the South the KKK paid him a visit and hung him from a tree in his front yard leaving behind one daughter b 1865. In 1869, Rebecca remarried to William Bone and had five children from this union.

Hariett married a James Gaines on 12 Mar 1868 in Stone Co., MO.

John married Zion Goddard about 1866 in Barry Co., MO.

Salina M. married four times: 1. William F. Forbis 5 Dec 1869 in Eureka Springs, Carroll Co., AR and had one daughter Mary Clarissa in Jul 1870. Salina then married widower, Alfred Albert Painter on 21 Oct 1875 in Stone Co., MO. Alfred ran a ferry on the White River and died 19 Apr 1876 in Barry Co., MO leaving Salina pregnant with their first child from this union, Mahala Cordelia Painter b. 4 Aut 1876 in Eureka Springs, Carroll Co., AR. Salina's third husband was Jacob D. Delk b. 1847 MO and they were married 23 Jan 1880 Barry Co. According to mortaility records, they lost a male infant in July 1880 which meant that Salina probably had a miscarriage. To this union two daughters were born, Rose Olive "Ollie" Delk ca 1881 and Lyda Evelyn Delk b. 29 Dec 1882. Salina married her last husband, Ezekiel S. Timmons on 19 Apr 1896 in Eureka Springs, AR,

I have several questions about this family and about Salina's husbands... Alfred Albert Painter died shortly after their marriage... was it due to an accident involving the ferry on the White River? Who was Jacob D. Delk, and what happened to him? I have heard rumors that he was shot by neighbors, but not documented at all... Is there any recorded death date for Jacob D.?

Might there be some obit columns, newspaper clippings, or records somewhere that might help me piece this family together and get a clearer picture of them.

Salina was my great great grandmother and because of the rifts in the family with my great grandmother, we never got to know anything about her family.

Anyone having info please, please write to me--email me at BabyClams@yahoo.com
