Jesse S. (Spencer) ROBERTS married Susanna (Susan) ORR in Marion County, IN in 1840. I have a copy of the marriage record. In Indiana, their sons, John (1841), William (ca. 1844), and James (ca. 1845) were born. In Missouri, daughters Elizabeth and Rebecca were born. Then, in Nebraska, their daughter, Mary, was born. I have the dates but not handy at the moment. The Nebraska Census of 1860 for Johnson County shows another daughter, "Jerusina?" But I believe that was a mistake on the part of the census taker. I believe that she was actually Susanna (Susie) ROBERTS, daughter of John ROBERTS and Mary ROSS, born in 1860. They listing also shows John and Mary separated on the enumeration (it says by mistake). I do know that my grandfather, Andrew, born there in 1859, had a sister, Susie. And since Susanna remarried after Jesse's death, the 1870 census shows only Susannah and Mary with her new husband, John Humpal and his daughter, Germeny. Susanna died in 1895.
I have been unable to find any information on the family while they were in Indiana. Nor can I find where they went after 1860. I know that Rebecca died 13 months after her father, in January, 1867. He died in December of 1865. James ROBERTS, son of Jesse and Susanna, died in 1862 of an accidental pistol shot while in training for the Civil War. His brothers, John and William also fought in the Civil War, though I can find no information on John.
Anything you can add will be useful, I am sure.
