I believe I can add more to the Henry F. Millan line. The obit of his sister, Josephine Millan is posted at the Millan Family Genealogy Forum at It states she was the firth daughter of Henry and Caroline (Farr) Millan, was born in Fairfax Co Va, had sisters Mrs. Susanna Custer, Miss Maggie Millan, Mrs. Pocahontas Hooper and one brother, Henry F. Millan. (several siblings had died before 1907) Josephine died 1907, Chariton, Iowa had lived in Palmyra, MO. Adding this information to an article on the Millan family published in 2000 in the "Northern Virginia Genealogy" magazine, editor Marty Hiatt, Vol 5, No 1-4, p 416-451 gives the following genealogy. ( William Millan c1710-1810 m Elizabeth Lyle 1724-1800; had son Thomas Millan 1750-1828 m 2nd wife Susanna Summers 1770-1808; had son Henry S. Millan 1802-1888 m Caroline Farr 1806-1888; had son Henry F. Millan. The family remained stable in Fairfax Co VA for many years. Henry F. Millan moved to MO c 1835. Caroline died in Missouri in Feb 1888 and Henry died a few months later in Chariton IA - hit by a train. The article states William Millan (c1710-1810) was born in Scotland and emigrated from Ireland to US in 1739. They came through Millstone, Somerset Co NJ as this is were Thomas was born in 1750. The family was in Fairfax Co Va by 1775 as Thomas' first son was born in Fairfax. Henry S. Millan was the 10th of 11 known children.
