The Foster County Independent, Carrington, North Dakota Thursday June 16, 1932
Funeral services for S. T. Packard were held Tuesday afternoon at the Packard residence. His death occurred late Saturday evening and followed almost three years of illness.
The funeral was conducted by Rev. Charles W. Langdon of the M. E. church with music furnished by a ladies quartette, the Mmes. H. C. Duntley, Rowland Hall, Nels Carlson and Elmer Pahtzke. Pallbearers were William Meyers, A. E. Ireland, Ed Townsend, Charles Froelich, R. W. Seibert and Perry Adams. Burial was made in the Carrington cemetery.
Samuel Taylor Packard was born near Augusta, Maine, the son of a farm couple. He was five years old when his family moved west to Stillwater, Minn. Most of his life was spent in Minnesota, at Stillwater and at Santiago, Minn, where his marriage to Miss Jennie Reed occurred on Dec 16, 1891. They moved from their Santiago farm to Carrington in April, 1920, have made their home in this city for the ensuing 12 years.
Surviving Mr. Packard are his wife and four children, George Packard of Tacoma, Wash. Bernice Packard, who lives at home; Mrs. Frank Ganske of Carrington, and Mrs. Halvor Norheim of Juanita. George Packard was unable to attend the funeral services held here Tuesday. Another daughter, Mrs. Belle Mitter, died a year ago at Cedar Rapids, IA.
George Reed of Elk River, Minn; and W. J. Reed of Anoka, Minn, brothers of Mrs. Packard, were in Carrington for the funeral.
