On August 31, 1887, Carrie Ramstedt Lindbeck, with her daughter Margaret, and son Augustus left Sweden and came to Canada, following the Ramstedt family. In Minnesota, Carrie met Captain James Hale Beatty, Junior. He was a former English sea captain, with a dark beard and snappy brown eyes. They were married following a fast and romantic courtship. He was farming in Stevens County, Minnesota. After James died, Carrie and Margaret and the three children moved to Minneapolis where Erika, Carrie's sister, was living.
Carrie had built a home on an 80 acre claim-I'm trying to locate the claim which I believe to have been located in Stevens County. Any tips on where to look would be appreciated.
