Joan, Thank you for the response. Helga is my husbands grandmother. On her emigration papers it states that she is going to Sacred Heart to her uncle Gulbran Anderssen ( the last last was hard to read, it could be spelled differently). Now I am thinking that she could have come to Sacred Heart and lived with the uncle and worked at the boarding house. The story was told to me by Helga at age 70, so details could not have been so clear. She also said she did not like working for this person because he was not nice. Knowing Helga that could mean anything from he made a pass at her to her not liking the job and wanting to move to Minneapolis. I know there is a connection between Helga's father, Halvor Aas and this uncle Gulbran, but so far I have not found it. I will try and find out more about Ole Torbensen and see if there is a family connection. Again thank you for the information.
