Rumor has it that Melissa Deney/Denney and Burton Gallea(b.May 16 1833)were married in 1855 in Redwood Minnesota. Whether it was Redwood City, Redwood Falls, of Redwood County I haven't a clue. Melissa was born in Ellisburg, Jefferson Co NY in 1834 and died in Medina, Wisconsin. Melissa' parents were John & Luz(c)etta Deney. Burton's were James Gallea (originally from Canada.
I do have the 1855 Census of Ellisburg NY showing Melissa and her husband living there. So now I am wondering if Melissa & hubby got married the year prior. The Denny family was living in Kane Co. Illinois in 1850 before moving back to Ellisburg NY. It could be the families stopped in Redwood (long trip??) for the couple to be married and then returned to NY.
Melissa and Burton's first child was born in 1856 in Greenville, Wisc. and second child in New London, Wisc.
I'm more interested in the Denny/Deney/Denney lines and am curious if there are any in Redwood when Melissa got married around 1853-1855.
