If Cass Lake, or Walker, had a newspaper, you would need to check with the local public library, and hopefully someone would take the time to browse. They usually need an exact date. Maybe one of the survivors listed below could be of help.
The Cass Co Recorder would have the grantor/grantee deeds for the gas station.

Full Obituary:       Sarah E. Beringson passed away on March 14, 2011, at the age of 97 at Goldpine Home in Bemidji. She was born February 25, 1914 in Hubbard County to John and Louise Michel. She attended Cass Lake Elementary and High School, graduating in the class of 1932. She married John Beringson on April 26, 1934. They owned and operated Beringsons Bakery in Cass Lake for thirty one years. She remained a long time resident of Cass Lake until she moved into Birch Haven Senior Housing in Bemidji 4 years ago. She currently had been a resident of Goldpine since September of 2010. Since childhood she was a devoted member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cass Lake. Throughout her years she served as Secretary/Treasurer and was involved with Immanuel Lutheran Church Ladies Aid. She was also an active member of the Cass Lake American Legion Auxiliary. After Johns death she was employed by the U.S. Forest Service for over twenty years. Sarah retired and chose to be her mothers caretaker until her death in 1991. She then continued her employment with the U.S. Forest Service into her 90s. Sarah was known for her tenacity and strong work ethic. Sarah is survived by a son, Richard (Dick) of Ocean City, MD (Molly) and son, Jack (Gainesville, GA) (Lola), eight grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband John, mother (Louise Herman), father (John Michel), Cass Lake, brothers; John (Oregon) and Bill Michel (Bagley), sisters; Charlotte Hines (Hibbing) and Mary Jackson (Bemidji), and her son Don (California) in October of 2010. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cass Lake with Rev. Allan Wierschke officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Cass Lake.
