Bonsak-Hilda Berg Children: Hans and Carl
Posted by: Miles Lowe (ID *****2790) Date: October 29, 2013 at 18:06:54
  of 18115

My great grandfather Bonsak Berg born Jun 15, 1863 in Brandaas, Leksvik, Nord-Trøndelag, Norway (married Nov 11, 1884 in Leksvik, Nord-Trøndelag, Norway, to Hilda Sofie Kristiansdatter Hansen on Jan 29, 1862 in Ursvik, Akershus, Norway)migrated to the US and at one point moved to Haugen township near Wright MN. They had several children inlcuding my grandmother Olga Marie Berm later became Lowe when she married George Washington Lowe.

Children:
Olga Marie Berg, born Aug 26, 1884
Hans Bernhart Berg, born Apr 29, 1888 (Need more info)
Carl Oscar Berg, born Aug 05, 1890
Alfreda Bertina Berg, born Jan 12, 1893
Sophia H. Berg, born Bet. 1902–1903
Ida Matilda Berg, born Feb 27, 1908

I knew most of these children but did not know the two boys:

Hans, who died May 17, 1977 and is berried at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in MPLS MN.

His brother Carl was also laid to rest there and died Apr 02, 1963.

Berg, Charlie Carl
Date of Birth: 18 Sep 1920
Mother Maiden Name: Wolf
certid# 1920-00117
County of Birth: Aitkin

It also looks like Charlie served in WWII

Carl's mom: given that on the 1920 US Census she is named "Jeneva M. Berg," age 16, born in MN.

Wolf, Geneva May
Date of Birth: 12 May 1903
Mother Maiden Name: Tumberlin
certid# 1903-40612
County of Birth: Ramsey

She is the wife of Carl O. Berg in the 1920 US Census in Haugen, Aitkin County, Minnesota, as Jeneva M. Berg, age 16, b. Minnesota, father born in Iowa, mother in Minnesota.
On the 1930 US Census, again in Haugen, Carl is divorced and he has a son Charlie C, age 9, born in Minnesota. A search of the MN Birth Certificates Index yields Charlie's birth certificate in Aitkin County in 1920, and it gives his mother's surname as Wolf.

Bottom line: I know where Carl was laid to rest and Hans. It looks like Carl had a boy names Charlie C and that is all and Hans may not have had any? I am not sure if hans' wife is deceased and if so when and where. Find a grave does not show a stone for Hans but I know when he died and where is was laid to rest but nothing about his spouse or children. Carl is laid to rest in MPLS also but not sure if his son Charlie had children or were married either.

All other children I have located and now know many of their descendants. Han's and Carl I know hardly anything about and would like to know more so I can try and close this family gap by locating some of them. Any further help would be appreciated. At find a grave website I did make a request for pictures of Han's resting stone etc. If anyone can help me further on this project, please let me know.
