This information came from Martin, and even though it doesn't agree with what you found in Minnesota for the parents of John Henderson, remember that whoever gave the information (one of his kids) was trying to remember the names of grandparents that they had probably never met.
Johannes was born 16 Feb 1858 in Laxarby. His parents were Henrik Andersson and Maja Lisa Bryngelsdotter.
Sometimes I am very nicely surprised by using google for genealogy. In quotation marks, I googled "Maja Lisa Bryngelsdotter" and the word Laxarby, and in one fell swoop, I found two websites - query pages - where other descendants have searched for her too.
I think the Norway photos might be solved. This website shows that a possible sister for Johannes Hendriksson (various spellings, Henrikson, Henriksson, etc.) moved to the area of Norway called Tønsberg, in Vestfold county, southern Norway and had an illegitimate son, and someone from the Vestfold Historical society had posted a query to try and find her.
email me and I will find his address.
His name is clearly shown on the query page.
Here is the question he posted, I will translate it as best I can:
Karl Ludvig Johansen blir født 6. juli og døpt 14. juli 1895 i Slagen utenfor Tønsberg. Moren er da bosatt på Presterødrønningen. Konfirmert i Tønsberg 3. april 1910.
Karl Ludvig Johansen was born 6 July and baptised 14 July 1895 in Slagen, outside of Tønsberg. (Norway) The mother at that time is living at Presterødrønningen. (a farm?) Karl Ludvig confirmed in Tønsberg, 3 April 1910. He died on 31 May 1929, from Håkon Gamlesgate in Tønsberg.
Father: Bachelor and sailor Karl Anton Johansen. He was called that both on the baptism and confirmation records for his son, but I can not find him again. He was not married with the child's mother.
Mor: Lovise Henriksdatter, født 2. mars 1857 i Sverige. Død 24. mai 1927 i Tønsberg.
Mother: Lovise Henriksdatter, born 2 March 1857 in Sweden. Died 24 May 1927 in Tønsberg, Norway. She was called a Laundry and cleaning girl in 1900 on the census. She lived at Forstadens Mellom Street 329 in 1900, Reidar Sendemanns Street 2 in 1910, and Grev Wedels Street in 1927. There is not a place written down where in Sweden she could have been from. I hope that someone can help me with these two. Sincerely, Torbjørn.
After a few responses, Torbjørn sums the search results up at the bottom of the page, which I will also translate:
Ja, da har jeg funnet Lovise Henriksdatter på gården Vassända i Dals-Eds socken i Älvsborg len. Hun er tjenestepike på gårdene Onsøn Norra, Hindalebyn Västra og på Vassända fra 1885-1895, da det står at hun flytter 2. mai sistnevnte år til Norge.
Yes, here I have found Lovise Henriksdatter at the farm Vassända in Dals-Eds parish in Älvsborg, Sweden. She is a hired girl at the farms called Onsøn Norra, Hindalebyn Västra and at Vassända from 1885-1895. Then is says she emigrated 2 May 1895 to Norway.
She was born 2 March 1856 at Kronan in Laxarby parish, Dalsland, Sweden, as the daughter of Henrik Andersson and Maja Lisa Bryngelsdotter. So that mystery is solved. This is the grandmother of a man that is 86 years old, and up until Wednesday, last week (in 2010) he had never even heard her name. She this is a Christmas Eve twice over.
I think Torbjørn might not be related, but he is a genealogist who was helping a man find out about his ancestry.
email me for Torbjørn's contact info ideas.
So maybe the photo that you have from Norway are from this sister?
