To J. Christiansen. I am actually looking for both. You see, William is my paternal grandfather, but Maude is my step-grandmother? William's original wife, is my grandmother. We were close. She lived not far from me in the same city. William deserted her around 1917 when my dad and his brother were 3 and 4. William went to the store to get a loaf of bread and never returned! We don't think there was ever a divorce. I was told by someone that was distantly related to her, that Maude lived with William, but they werent' married. Yet, she is buried with him using his last name - Trask. I want to know if they were married and if he was a bigamist or if they just lived together common-law or whatever. It took me four years to track him down from MA where he is from through other states and Canada to MN. I want to know as much as I can about his life in MN and his and Maude's relationship. Records or whatever I can find. Do volunteers charge for their services? I cannot afford to pay anyone. I am a senior citizen on restricted budget. If anyone knew them, that would be great. I am trying to put the pieces of this puzzle together for my family. Thank you very much for your response and info.
