https://familysearch.org
has a number of births to Fred and Delores; they had a son Fred Duane but there's no sign of Fred Sr using that middle name.

There's also a 1930 census showing a widowed Delores living with her brother - two children with her, Doris and Elvina.

The 1940 census would help a lot - it's not on the index but you could check on familysearch.org for the images for International Falls if you know that's where they were living.

Do you have a copy of Delores' death certificate? That should at least confirm whether Fred was living when she passed away.
