From what I find, it appears that Kristen's children were all born in Norway up through the mid to late 1860s. I'm curious how Kristen could be having children in Norway and fighting the US Civil war at the same time?

Looks like Samming & Lena came to the US @ 1885/6. There is a Christian Kurness b. 1825/6 in Norway located in Lafayette Co. WI in the 1900 census. He is living alone and says he came to the US in 1892.
