I am searching for Mitchell relatives that were originally from France, migrated to Canada and then on to the U.S. in the 1800s. Originally, the family was likely named St-Michel or St. Mitchel., but changed to Mitchell.
My ancestors include: Basil(e), Gilbert, Levi, John and maybe a Gabril(e). It is believed the family migrated from France to Montreal, Quebec. Several migrated to Massena, Long Sault Island, St Lawrence Co.,Canada. Levi moved on to Bird Island, Minnesota, John to Michigan and then on to Mason, Bayfield Co., Wisconsin.
