Dianne,
I have a Catherine Becker but the birth dates don't match. Here is what I have on the Becker family:
Adam B. Becker
Born: 1816 in Hesse, Germany
Adam and Emilia immigrated to Wright County, Minnesota in about 1857.His headstone was newer and there is an upright, older headstone that is quite weathered as well.He had a veteran star stuck in the ground by his headstone.I have a photo of Adam and Emelie Becker.I also have a photo of Adam's parents but do not know their names.
Died: July 14, 1896 at the age of 79 or 80.
Buried: St. Michael’s old cemetery
Emilie A. (Arndt) Becker
Born: 1831 in Prussia
Emilie was originally baptized Lutheran. She was baptized Catholic on December 15, 1863 in St. Michael. Her sponsors were Peter and Katherine Lindenfelser. Her headstone was newer.Adam and Emilie had the following children:
Adam (only one not born near St. Michael in Wright County; he was born in Michigan) born June of 1856.Adam, sometimes called Edward, moved along with his brother, Albert and family, to Saskatchewan in the early 1900's.
Joannes “John” born December 27, 1857.According to the baptism records his name was Joannes. He was baptized January 18, 1858.
Elizabeth born July 19, 1859.She was baptized August 14, 1859.Her sponsors were John and Catherine Nelles. She married Francis “Frank” Vetsch October 16, 1877 at St. Michael. She died December 20, 1916 at 1923 - 57th Street South Superior, Douglas County, Wisconsin. She is buried at Calvary Cemetery in Douglas County, Wisconsin.
Catherine born December 31, 1860 and died February 6, 1861.She was baptized February 5, 1861.Her sponsors were John and Catherine Nelles.
Albert was born September of 1862 Albert married Catherine “Kate” Barthel about 1888 probably in Wright County.Albert and his family moved along with brother Adam to Saskatchewan in the early 1900's.
Anna Catherine “Kate” born April 7, 1865.Kate was baptized May 28, 1865.Her sponsors were John Nelles, Sr. and Katherine Hermes.
Maria Magdalena “Lena” born January 24, 1867.She was baptized February 4, 1866.Her sponsors were John Lindenfelser and Maria Magdalena (Halter) Lindenfelser her future in-laws.She married John Lindenfelser in April 1883.
Joseph born August 10, 1868.He was baptized September 6, 1868.His sponsors were Anton Berning and (unknown) Berning.
Adelaid “Ida” born December 16, 1869.She was baptized February 6, 1870.Her sponsors were Joseph Vetsch and an unknown person. She married John Reyling about 1886 and moved to Spokane County, Washington before 1900.They had at least three children.
Maria Anna “Mary” born August 20, 1876.She was baptized September 10, 1876.Her sponsors were John Nelles and M.A. Nelles. She married a Hertel.
Died: 1883 at the age of 51 or 52.
Buried: St. Michael’s old cemetery
Magdalen Lindenfelser (according to Celestine Huss’ death certificate) or Magdelena “Lena” or Maria Magdalena Becker (or Mariam Magdelena written in German)
Born: January 24, 1867
Magdalena Becker’s Godparents were John Lindenfelser and Maria Magdelena Halter (her in-laws later in life).Magdalena married John Lindenfelser on April 10, 1883 at Frankfort Township. She would have been 16 years and two and one half months old.
Died: October 31, 1932 at the age of 65.
Are you from the St. Michael area? The Zahler name doesn't sound familiar to me.I just went through both cemeteries in St. Michael and the St. Alberts cemetery this summer.
Also, your last name is Michels. That name is on my other side of the family.Did your Michels family come from Union Hill, Minnesota (near Belle Plaine)?
I can give you the email address for someone who may be able to help you more with the Becker family. She was of great help to me.My email address is [email protected]
Mary
