Evening Ann, I show your Johnie Crider as John Crider Jr. His father was John Crider and his mother was Sarah Collins. William Crider who married Elizabeth Vaughan was John Jr's brother. Sarah Collins' parents were Rhesa "Reese" Collins and Mary "Polly" Brooke. (I have not verified this one item all the rest has been verified through census's, etc.) John Jr. married Malinda Caroline Turnmire on Nov. 13, 1851 in Floyd Co., KY. Per the census of 1870, I show Malinda being born Abt 1833 in KY. Children of John Jr. (36) and Malinda Turnmire Crider (37)(as of the 1870 census of Floyd Co., KY [roll: M593_461] HH#75) includes the following: Marion, June 13, 1856 14 yrs old Mary Jane 1862 8 yrs old Andrew 1864 6 yrs old Perry 1867 3 yrs old Moses 1870 4 months old Children of John Jr. (48) and Malinda Turnmire Crider (46) (as of the 1880 census of Floyd Co. KY [ Roll: T0_413] HH#117) includes the following: Mary Jane (17) Andrew (15) Perry (12) Moses ( 9) Laura ( 8) Cora B. ( 2) Received from another source: Marion Crider was the first settler in Eagle Valley, abt 1878. He was the son of John and Elizabeth (Turnmire) Crider. Marion was born 30 June 1856 in Floyd Co., Kentucky. He moved to Meeker Co., MN, until his marriage in 1878 to Oma Elizabeth Maynard then to Eagle Valley, MN. He had 4 sons, Virgil, Vernon, John, and William. Also, Janie, Elma, Sadie, Sophia, and Hattie. The name is still in the area. There are about 5 in the phone book but there must have been more at one time because there is an area just West of town that is called Criderville because so many Criders lived there at one time. [[[ not sure if she was confused on Malinda's name or where she received that info-- ]]] Census of 1880 in Eagle Valley, Todd County, MN HH#14: Marrion Crider (24) Farmer from KY Elizabeth (16) KY Etta Jane (1) MN I dont know if this is the same Marion (Marrion) as listed but the dates work out. The Janie she lists could be Etta Jane. I have not researched further on this, as it is a collateral line for me and I have concentrated on direct lines as much as possible. As to where I live -- Minnesota. I've been to Colorado several times though as all my inlaws live down there. Hope this helps you!! Jeanie Notify Administrator about this message?
