These are catholic families who together during the mid 1880's controlled about 1000 acres about one mile east of Sheldon or a few miles north of Caledonia. I am trying to find out more about their activities. I know that Patrick Russell, SR b1817, Drimoleague, Cork Co., Ireland and his wife Ellen McCarthy, b 1821 Cork Co. were active parish leaders. Family notes indicate that they we members of St. John's Catholic Church of Caledonia, but can't find any reference to this Church in the Minneapolis Diocese. They were also buried in Caledonia--probaby in the church cemetary, but can't determine. I hoping someone in the area has information and possibly more historical information from directories or local newspapers.
