Possibly to fight in the "Indian Wars". I had a Goetzinger relative who moved from Ohio to Houston County, but is buried back in Ohio with a military marker, but no unit. His gg grandson told me several years ago that this gentleman went west to fight in the Indian Wars. Still have to find his service record though!
