Pearl M. Bjerken was born in Minneapolis, MN on October 12th, 1926 to Arvid and Hildur Oslund. Pearl married Jim Bjerken on Februrary 21st, 1947. She passed away March 22nd, 2007 in Bloomington, MN at the age of 80 years. Funeral Service was held at Wooddale Church, Monday, March 26th, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. Officiating was Rev. Fred McCormick and Rev. Warren Magnuson. Interment at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
Pearl had a wonderful ability to make everyone she met a friend, and place everyone she knew in first place. She loved organizing family gatherings and reunions. Her family in Slayton, MN adored her visits, and Minneapolis relatives attended every invitation to gatherings. Pearl lovingly created a family history going back at least four generations; involving a staff of cousins gathering photos and chronologies. Large family reunions were held at the Family Farm in Slayton in 1981 and 1986.
Pearl is survived by her husband, James L. Bjerken; daughter, Cherlon K. Williams; son, Charles J. (Irmgard) Bjerken; granddaughters, Anne (Chul) Smith and Stacy Williams; grandson, Denny L. Williams; brothers, Rev. Harvey D. (Maydelle) Oslund and Jay Oslund; sister, Darlene C. (Russell) Adkins and many other dear family and friends. Casketbearers were Robert Adkins, Jon Bjerken, Craig Pearson, Gary Johnson, Dana Widstrom and Chuck Jones. Honorary Casketbearers were Delphin Westburg, Maurice R. Bjerken and Dick Pearson.
