My great grandfather was named Horace A. P. Ingram (the significance of the middle initials is unknown). He lived in Hastings, Dakota County while still single per the 1860 census and later moved back with his wife and family and was again there at the time of the 1880 census. What was that area of the state like in the late 1850/60s? How about in the 1880s? His father and brother stayed on in MN while Horace, his mother, sister and brother-in-law eventually came to California.
