We are the same family. The farthest I go back on the Brittons is to Joseph's Father , who was also named Thomas. He appears on census in Goodhue Co., Mn. in 1860. He is 62 years old, which would make him born in 1798. Margaret and Joseph were also living in Goodhue co. at that time. He appears again on a census in Stearns co., Mn. in 1880. He is then 82 years old and living with a grandson. There is one other census for Gravesend township, Kings co. New York on Sept. 14, 1850 he is listed as 52 years old. This was near where Margaret and Joseph settled when they first came to the United States. I do not know when he died or where. I suspect in the Stearns Co. area but I did not find a death record there. He also is not listed in the death records for Brainerd. I descend from his grandson Thomas H. Britton . Thomas H. was my great grandfather.
