In the 1910 census for Powers, Cass county, Carrie was the wife of Joseph Peppenger, second marriage, married 6 years.

In the 1905 state census for Hackensack, Cass county, she's with Joseph and her children (except for Annie who was obviously missed by the enumerator). If she's remarried, the fate of Frank must have been known, or he was declared dead, sometime between June 1900 and June 1905.

In Evergreen cemetery, there is a Frank Nelson, age 50 yrs., died 06-09-1901. The age is off, but that might be an error. I'd suggest emailing the local historical society. They maintain a card index of obituaries and can look it up to see if it is your Frank.
