Ft. Ripley Murder, 1888, Frank Randall

One of our family members has possession of a photo taken in 1888 of an 18 year old named Frank Randall. The photographer, also named Randall has made a notation that the photo was taken inside the jail with poor lighting. The boy in question has something to do with a Ft. Ripley murder.
We would love to find out more about this story since the boy in question is a distant relative of our family line.
Are there any old newspaper accounts of a murder at Ft. Ripley around that time frame, and if so, are they available online.
Any help will be appreciated.
