My paternal great grandfather was Heinrich Rudolph Schwanke and his wife was Earnestina Emilie (I don't know her maiden name). Both were born in Germany. They settled in Moorhead, Clay county, before 1895. At least one of their children, Edith Emilie, my paternal grandmother, was born there in Moorhead in Feb. 3, 1886. They were Lutheran. Heinrich and Earnestina eventually produced at least five children. They moved to Glendive, Montana, in the 1890s where he worked as foreman of the coalyard for Northern Pacific Railroad. Therefore, I am assuming that he also worked for the railroad there in Moorhead, but I cannot verify that. I am very interested in information concerning their lives in Moorhead, when they arrived there, where they lived in Germany (West Prussia?), and when they arrived in the United States. I would be delighted to hire someone to do genealogical work on this.
