I am attempting to establish the identity of the family of Mary JOHNSON Kraft. According to an obituary for Mary Johnson Kraft from 1932 she was buried in the West Union Cemetery, Carver County in what I feel is probably a family burial site for the Johnson family. Unfortunately, the
records for the West Union Lutheran Church burned in the late 1940's so they are of no help.
The obituary states that she had two living brothers at the time of her death in 1932. Frank JOHNSON lived in Cologne and Edward JOHNSON lived in Hamel, Mn. It also states that she had a sister, Ms. John OLSON, who also lived in Cologne.
Mary JOHNSON was born in Minnesota, Aug. 1863, and married Andrew (Swedish Sp: Anders) Kraft in 1883 in Hancock Township. The marriage was witnessed by Frank JOHNSON (perhaps her brother). Andrew and Mary subsequently had five children, Andrew Edgar, Frank, George, Ellen and John Edward. They lived in Carver County until 1896 when they sold the farm near Gotha and moved to Renville County. Unfortunately, none of the living relatives of Mary can
help me with the identity of the correct Johnson family. My father (who's now 87) believes that her relatives were involved in some kind of cabinetry or casket making business in the 1920's-1940's in Cologne. I've found
several potential Johnson families, one of whom is Sven JOHNSON, Hancock Township, Carver County (1880 Census). However, there are so many potential Johnson families it's kind of difficult to find the correct one. Further,
the farm was so close to San Francisco Township that I can't be sure that the JOHNSON connection is not there rather than Hancock Township.
Any help in identifying this JOHNSON family to whom Mary belongs would be appreciated.
