Copied by Dean Christiensen and typed by Peggy Aoki

Mrs. Carl Reetz of Clements passed away last Saturday following a brief illness. Death resulted from peritonitis. She was a pioneer woman in this section of the state. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon. Short services were held at the home at 1 o'clock, followed by services at the German Lutheran church. Interment was made in the church cemetery. Mrs. Reetz was born in Glumer, Germany, on May 5, 1853, making her 75 years, 8 months and seven days old. Her maiden name was Bertha Marotzke. In 1875 she immigrated to the United States and came to Minnesota. The following year, 1876, she was united in marriage with Carl Reetz, who passed away December 11, 1926. For a number of years following their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Reetz lived in the stone house on the Morgan Morton road. While residing there one of their daughters was drowned in the Minnesota river, in a triple drowning with two other girls. Over thirty years ago the Reetz family moved to a farm several miles west of Morgan, not far from Clemnts. In 1926 not many months before Mr. Reetz passed away the Golden Wedding anniversary was observed. Mrs. Reetz is survived by seven sons and daughters, namely, Herman and Robert of Bertha, Minn., Aldoph, Portland Oregon, August on the home place, Mrs. John Gluth, Morgan, Mrs. Herman Schultz, Cobden, and Mrs. Henry Doepke, Minneapolis. Two daughters and an infant are dead.
