Your Mizells are descended from Luke Mizell ( 1614-1669) who was transported to Virginia by Sir Thomas Grey prior to 1635.

Luke had two sons, Lawrence , ca 165-51- 1696, and Luke Mizell, Jr. 1660-1694. Jr. died leaving only daughters, so all of the Mizells are descended from Lawrence who moved to NC abt. 1694 and died there. He had two sons, Luke, b, 1682 and William, b. 1693. John Mizell, who died in Bertie Co. NC in 1747, may have been a son although he may have been a grandson. To my knowlege, his parentage has never been proven.

I can't prove it, but circumstatial evidence indicates that Luke, son of Luke, grndson of Lawrence, moved to SC about the time of the Rev and is the ancestor of your family. Someone else may have more information and can confirm or disprove my theory.

The country of origin for Luke Mizell, the immigrant, has never been proven. Most researchers believe he was born in France, but I've never seen anything to prove or dis-prove it. There were some French Protestants who migrated to London in 1585 fleeing persecution with phonetic spellings of the name, such as Moselle, etc. Possibly he was from that family.
