I received the following information at some point in the past from someone probably working on your same line. Sorry I can't attribute it but it's worth passing on:

1827 July 21. Stancel Bayner of Martin Co to Horace Gurkin of Martin, for $.94, one bay mare and bay colt. Wit: Willy Bayner, J. G. Mizell. Sept Term 1828 proven in court by oath of Willy Bayner. Ordered Registered. [Martin DB H, 300]

1833 Feb 18. Joseph H. Adams, Martin Co, [son of William Adams of 1803 will and so living near the grant Harmon Gurkin got in 1823] to Horace Gherkin, Martin Co, for $90.00, 60 acres land in Martin Co on Welshes Creek beg at the mouth of the Great Beaver Dam branch thence the Branch to Silas Ange's line so as to contain the aforesd 60 acres out of a deed granted to William Adams from Joseph Hutson. Wit: Thos Harris, J. G. Mizell. Proved in Oct Term 1834 court by oath of Thomas Harris. [Martin DB K, 144] description of land shows Horace buying land near his father Harmon.

p. 71 - 1 March 1841 - Estate of Joseph ADAMS, dec'd; H. Crihfield, adm., included farm animals and a froe sold to Hardy Measles, Mrs. Adams, and Wm. Adams; notes on Orrin Lambert, one in hands of Wm. Bradford, and an account on Hardy Measles.

Here's what I have for Hardy Mizell

He married to Harriet, born about 1813 in North Carolina. Hardy Mizell was listed on the 1838 tax roll of Wayne County, Tennessee.
In 1850, he was listed as Hardy Mizell, age 47, born in N.C., in the census of Lauderdale County, Civil District #8. He moved to Dunklin County, Missouri in the 1850’s, where he was living in 1860.
