Have just found proof of Harriet J.'s maiden name. Her father was Joseph H. Adams as mentioned in posting of Patrick Pearsey. Joseph H. Adams was in the census of 1830 Martin County, N. C. Nearby were the Measles. I think Hardy and wife Harriet might have been in the Adams household in 1830 census. One son, William, is in the probate record of Joseph. William Adams and mother, Elizabeth, are on the 1840 census of Lauderdale Co.,TN. Hary Mizell named a son Martin--I always thought it was because of Martin Co. N. C. Other son's names were Wiliam H., Sylvester H., James A., Charles , and Martin Luther. Most of these names were also in the Martin County Measle/Mizell names.
For those with Dunklin County Missouri connections, do you know the husband's name of widow "Missouri" Mizell who lived as a widow for many years before marrying again? She married 1st a Mizell between 1880 and 1890. He died before 1900 census. I have found her to be Missouri Wilkins, daughter of William Wilkins and Ellen LNU. I think she married Sylvester Mizell. She always lived next door to Charles W. Mizell.
