James, all that I have is in the book that says, Adam Mitts came from Germany to America before 1775 according to the first known records written about him. He is listed in the members of the Virginia colonial millitia who received pay for their services at Romney, Hampshire County, in 1775. Also John and Jacob Mitts are found in the same list. It could be that John and Jacob are brothers of Adam Mitts. It also says at the time the book was published that the research at this time does not prove the relationship of the three.
What I would like to do is see if everyone would like to pool their information and maybe we could put together an up to date book with more info than the first one. What do you think? Nancy
