Mitts Family Genealogy Forum
I e-mailed Pam yesterday. My husband and her are related through another brother John in Connellsville, PA. The interesting thing is these brothers married sisters. This line is unconnected at this time. See pages 203-205 in the book "The Adam Mitts Family in America". It states that the brothers father was William and his father was Henry. I don't know were the source was for Henry, but I know the source of the rest of the information. My husband's grandfather Scott Mitts send this information to the author on 15 June 1978, and an update on 1 July 1983. I have a copy of both letters. I am the Charlene Mitts, wife of John Mitts, son of James, son of Scott, son of John, son of William which is our common ancestor. Scott had very specific dates but no Places. I have looked up census and the dates are close, all being born in PA. When I went to Connellsville the tombstones were in sad shape, but I was able to read them by feeling them with my fingers, like braille. Scott does remember being called Uncle by as many as 9o something people in the Pittsburg area. Mitts' seems to have large families and we have kept up the tradition, we have 7. There should be alot of them out there. That might be were we need to look next.
Pam has some of this this information. I am in the process of preparing more information to her. But because this line seems to difficult to trace, I thought there might be others looking for it as well. I hope to put up a web site soon with the information I have. Anyone interested please e-mail me and I'll let you know when it is up.
Any one with Pittsburg, Allegany, PA area Mitts please let me know.
