Based on my info, Peyton was Peyton Randolph Mitchell b: 26 Aug 1791 VA and d: 4 Apr 1853 Stouts Grove, McLean Co, Ill.He was married to Elizabeth Roe (or Wroe) Briggs 3 Sep 1812 per Union co, KY marriages. His parents were John Mitchell and Elizabeth McAllister.I have already mentioned the court "guardianship" document showing the children of John. This is the document that connected my Fielding Delaney with his wife, ElizabethMitchell. There was also a court case filed May 27 1812 transfering title of the land (originaly purchased by John Mitchell from Peter Casey on 23 Apr 1805-there is lots of info on Judge Peter Casey) and showing heirs. In the 1850 census there was only one "Peyton Mitchell" and he is in Stouts Grove, McLean Co, Ill.His wife is no longer with him, but he has a son, William, age 33 b: KY, along with 3 other children all born in Ill.Also in Stouts Grove in 1850 is Peyton's other son, Ebenezer Briggs Mitchell age: 37 b: KY with his family. If you check "Find a Grave" under "Stouts Grove Cemetery" there are 15 "Mitchell's" listed.
Here are 2 books to check: "Soldiers of the Revolutionary War & Was of 1812 buried in McLean Illinois".This has info on "Mitchell, Rev. Peyton".AND
"Good Old Times in McLean Co, Ill".pg 438 info on Ebenezer Briggs Mitchell.
I am still trying to figure out exactly where, in VA, John came from. You mentioned books on the Briggs family and also on the McAllister family.Would you give me the titles and authors so that I an find them or can you tell me where I can locate them.
Hope this helps with your research,
Mary Lou Love
