This is not my family - but this may be of help to you....
SS death index states that she was born 13 March 1930 and that her SS# came from AL.
Her obit which I am guessing you have states that she was a native of Randolph County, but has lived most of her life in Clay Co.Then goes on to mention family members.
1930 census: Wedowee, Randolph Co AL, taken on April 4, 1930:

Vernice C., wife, 16, married at age 15, AL, AL, AL
Bettie, dau, 0/12, AL, AL, AL

Josiphene?, 43, AL, GA, SC

WWI draft card, Randolph Co AL:
Gilbert Mitchell (signed as G. H. Mitchell)
born Feb 3, 1877.Nearest relative Josie Mitchell. He is of medium height and build, blue eyes and black hair.
death record from pilotfamilysearch.org:
Josie Mitchell; died 27 May 1940, Wedowee, Randolph Co AL. Born 1874, AL; married to Gilbert Mitchell.Parents; Willis Miles (born SC) and Pallie Baker (born SC)
I believe there is a descendant to Gilbert and Nixon who lives in Chumuckla, FL - her name is Cynthia Campbell Mitchell - based on her postings.
That should be enough to get you on your way. Trish in TN
