BREWER, WOODROW ELBERT "WOODY"
Woodrow Elbert Brewer, 91, of Mount Vernon, WA Passed away Saturday August 8, 2009 at Skagit Valley Hospital of compl- ications following surgery.
Woody was born July 15, 1918 in Caprock, New Mexico to his parents William Elbert Brewer and Emma Fowler Mitchell Brewer. The family moved to Roswell, NM when he was nine years old and he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in June 1937, where he very proudly served our country, retiring honorably in December 1956.
Woody is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Brewer, his son David Brewer and wife Maureen of San Marcos, CA, daughter Debra Webb of Alpine, CA, daughter Denise Hewitt and her husband Dan Hewitt, grandchildren John Webb of Oceanside, CA, Dane and Darby Hewitt of Mount Vernon, WA, and great-grandson Dustin Webb of Oceanside, CA, and brother Gene Brewer and wife Donna of Medford, OR.
His parents, two brothers and four sisters preceded Woody in death.
V.W. Woody was raised June 6, 1956 in Semper Fidelis Lodge No. 680 A.F. & A.M. Jacksonville, N.C. Woody was a 53 year Mason, having attained the rank of 33rd degree in Scottish Rite in Portland, OR, on November 13, 1993.
Woody was a loving husband, father and friend to many and he loved serving people, his country and God. He touched many lives and will surely be missed by all of us
A memorial service for V.W. Woodrow E. Brewer will be held at Mount Vernon Masonic Center Friday, August 14, 2009 at 2:00 PM.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of Affordable Burial & Cremation Services, LLC of Mount Vernon Washington. Not related but thought someone might be!
