Dear Carole,
I too am searching out Mitchells, in my case from two vantage points that may or may not link up. I was in the process of searching back on my paternal grandmother's line of Newtons. I reached a John Newton in Virginia, born about 1850, that married Mary Mitchell and after her passing married her sister Naomi. They were the daughters of Isaac Mitchell, Jr. and Sarah Satterwhite in North Carolina although some moved on to SC later. Isaac and Sarah had a daughter named Dorcas. The information on Isaac, Jr and his family is like a county road map, the info I have indicates that Isaac, Jr was son/of Isaac Mitchell, Sr. and his first cousin Catherine Mitchell, d/o John Mitchell and Catherine Bates. I hadn't forseen ending up with the Newton and Mitchells marrying sense my Mitchell search was still to come - my Mother was Eleanor Elizabeth MITCHELL, so I was caught by surprise. I'm not getting anywhere beyond her greatgrandfather Thomas B. Mitchell b.1814 in SC, married to Eliza (no maiden-name) in SC, first born was James L., in SC and the rest including my greatgrandfather George Washington Mitchell were born in Georgia, George was a twin to brother Joseph born in 1858. Any help? I hope so. Jim Whitley
