Hello Nancy;
Well, the problem with the 'Indian Blood" issue is that it depends of course how far back in the generations the connection is. I have some distant cousins for instance, through another line that do have Indian blood. However, their great-grandfather married a lady who was part Indian. But our blood ties do not include her, as our connectiongoes further back.
That was interesting what you said about your Mitchell line, and that many ended up in Iowa. Do you happen to know which county, especially in the early-mid 1800's?
The Mitchell name is very common of course, and my line also came from Northern Ireland. Our ancestor who was the immigrant was Thomas Mitchell, b. 1670 in Ireland, and migrated to the New Country sometime before 1734, as that is that date I have for his death, in Lancaster Co., PA.
According to one book I have read, there at one time were many people with the rare blood type B who were from the Scandinavian area.
The family and descendants of my Thomas Mitchell were in Pennsylvania for a good many years before migrating to Woodford Co. and Franklin Co, Kentucky. After then moving to Indiana, many moved on to Mahaska Co., Iowa in the 1840s.
