I understand there were Mitchel's and Kirk's living near each other in Vermont. I'm looking for any information on (and parents of) my great-grandfather, George Mitchel Kirk said to have been b. 1807 in VA and subsequently brought to TN by his father while a small boy. The 1850 Jackson Co. TN census shows his age as 38, born in TN. He is listed with wife Rachel and 9 of their 10 children. George M. and Rachel had one more child and Rachel disappears from sight.
Then, 10 years later, he is shown on the 1860 Texas Co. MO census as being age 53 and born in NC, with new wife Jane, and their new baby. This age of 53 corresponds with his birth date of 1807 as shown on his headstone in Randolph Co., IL.
If anyone has info that may help me find his parents, it would be greatly appreciated.
