Alot of Misenhimers and too many gaps in census'. Here in N.E. Oklahoma my paternal great grandfather was Elias Misenhimer b. 23 Sept 1859 in ILL. and died 5 May 1936. On his death cert the informant said born in Cairo, IL. (may or may not be correct). He married my ggmother, a Wyandotte indian. In the Wyandotte Indian cemetery in Ottawa Co., OK. is a worn headstone for A.M. Misenhimer, b. 1832, d. 23 Jan 1888, which i believe is Elias' father or surely a close relative. I believe A.M. is the one listed in the 1880 federal census for Garden Township, Cherokee Co., Kansas with a wife named Martha. Neither I or the Ks historcal society can find a reference of the prior to, or after 1880. I also wonder if A.M. is the Alfred M. Meisenhimer with wife Martha, and a son Elias of age 11/12 in the 1860 census in Union, IL. No ref to them prior or after 1860. Anyone have an idea or new info? Thanks in advance.
