Hi Sue.

I'm sorry I haven't replied sooner, but the system wouldn't let me! My great-grandfather was Charles, who married Katherine Veronica Herzog. Charles was actually named Karl(or Carl, I don't know which spelling is right) and he later changed it to Charles.

I find the guard hair invention interesting. I was told that he invented something called a universal chuck. This is a part that fits on a lathe. My grandmother, Bertha Mischke, told me that her ancestors were furriers. In this case, the invention you mention makes more sense.

the dates I have are as follows:

Karl von Mischke: 1851-1927

Berthe Schoen: 1851-?

They immigrated from Berlin, Germany in 1882

Karl (Charles): 1879-1925 He came over with his parents as a very young child

He married Katherine Herzog: 1879-1923

I hope this message posts. I have tried several times to reply without success. I hope to hear from you again soon.

Have a happy new year

Linda Korec
