Hello David The Miranda family is all over the America's. I have followed the linage back eleven generations in what is now the USA.
Ours goes from Isaac Miranda born in 1662 to my grandchildson Isaac Meranda born 2000.Isaac's father was Emanuel Nunes Miranda. Isaac is considered to be the first permenant Jewish settler in America. Some of the books he brought over with him are on display in the Jewish Museum in New England. Also there is a book out called "The Miranda's" you might find what you are looking for there. The reason the spelling for us is "Meranda" because my husbands great-great-grandfather changed the spelling of his name between wives. George Miranda/Meranda of Scotts county Ill. and Mercer county. Hopoe this helps.
