HI Mark,
My grandfather could have been from Sicily. Since my gmother was from the North, my nono didnt like to admit he was from the South. But he couldnt get away from the different dialects. I don't know very much about his side except his fathers name was Stefano(I'm drawing a blank on his wifes name) and they probably came before or right around 1900.
I've found so few Italian Mirandas in NY that there must be a connection. Have you had any luck finding them on the web?
My sister knows a Mark Miranda, do you have any connection to St. Johns?
