I have looked many times at one of the Carroll Co., MS Minyards, William Minyard, and some of his decendants trying to make a connection with my relative James Jackson Minyard. I understand that J.J.had a brother named William; and when J.J., one of his brothers, two sisters and some of his wife's Smith family were on their way to Texas they stopped off in Copiah Co., MS. Some of the group stayed there instead of going on to Texas. This took place in about 1852-1854. There is a good probablilty that their father's name was Thomas and their mother, Elizabeth ??. The Minyard names that came with J.J. were Thomas, Mittie/Elizabeth (Blake) and Harriet. Per land records in GA there was also a Franklin B. and a William that was part of this family. Any information that you would be willing to share on this family would be most appreciated.
