I am quite familiar with the Minthorn/Hoover
line, as that is my ancestry. It goes back to William, b. ca 1716, arrived Boston 1725, with 3 brothers. I dont know their names. One of my aunts did the Geneology on Hoover back in the 1930's. What I cant figure out is the connection between the NY city people who appear to be Dutch, and the Boston/Connecticut, Ontario Quakers, who seem to have been from England. (Dorset ?)
There has to be some sort of connection. Did some of the English Minthorns go to Holland, and become Calvanists, then go on to New Amsterdam? Seems the most likely to me as
Minthorn does not seem to be a Dutch name.
I have info on the Minthorns in England going back 500+ years but nothing in Holland.
