From 1870 Rhea County, TN Census on microfilm

Now, in all certainty, this is a unclear transcription as the compiler of this history of Rhea County admitted that often Minnick and Mernick could not be distinguished in handwriting. All the details fit for George Minix to be George Minnick and based on their date of marriage, Sarah Collins was the mother of Margaret Ann Frances Minnick., born 1851 in Rhea County, Tennessee. This Margaret must be identical with Margarette, age 19 in 1870, daughter of George and step mother Eliza Jane Fraley, the only family of that name living 1880 in Rhea County.

These two 19 year old teenagers lived within two miles of each other. The 1870 census above and below (with asterisks) depicts the close proximity of the households.
John Housley married 1) Margaret Minnick, 3 Aug 1873 in Rhea Co. and had Mary Jane (c1874), Annie Bell (Feb 1876), Callie (8 Oct 1879), George Edward (15 Oct 1884), Samuel Houston (11 Dec 1883) and Johnny (2 Mar 1887). Then there is a long gap of 10 years before the next child.
