I have traced the Minks' family roots to Germany. Thomas R. Minks (1843-1910) appaers to be the youngest child of Henry Minks and Emily Sare. Their children were Mary Melissa, Sarah J., Stephen W., Engaby, and Thomas. Mary married Franklin Kirkman in Monroe County, Indiana, and they had 6 children. Thomas married Mary Hazel, and they had 5 children. Their daughter Lucy Florence, b. 1874, married William S. Sapppington 29 Dec 1888 in Terre Haute, Indiana. They had so many children, my wife's grandmother, Mary Rachel Sappington, said she lost count, but about 19. Many of them also had large families and lived mostly in the Terre Haute Indiana area. There are still many Sappington's there.
