I spent the day trying to reconstruct the life of David Meinhard/Meinhart/Minehardt/Minhard.

I believe him to be the father of my gr-grandmother Cora. I had Cora listed with the surname of "Minehart" as shown on her death certificate, but it appears the name is slightly different in every census! I first find David living at home with his parents: George and Christian MEINHARD on the 1880 Census for Towamensing, Carbon Co., PA. David is aged 11 at this time. Which means he was born in 1869.

I find David MINHART, on the 1900 Census for East Towamensing, Carbon Co., PA., a long with his wife Lillie R. MINHART, and daughters Cora A., aged 5, Mary J., aged 3, and Beulah N, aged 1.

In 1900 I also find James SHELLY, aged 25, b. 1872, along with wife Fietta, aged 26, on the census for East Penn Twnsp., Carbon Co., PA. A long with children> Florence, Mary J., Ida M.?, James E., and Nathan H. All born in PA.

I don't know what happened, but by 1910, the Miracode Index shows a blended family of MEINHARDS and SHELLY'S in Lower Towamensing, Carbon Co., PA.

Although my gr-grandmother Cora does not appear of this family census....it does show her two sister's as well as the SHELLY children, with David MEINHART being the HOH and the new wife "Fietta", aged 36. It says they have been married for eight years. (So, they must have married abt. 1902. If anyone has access to this marriage lisc. or information, I would be greatly appreciative!)

I then find David MEINHART, on the 1920 Census for Bowmanstown, Carbon Co., PA. He is aged 50. Also listed is his wife Fietta, aged 46, daughters Sadie, Carrie, Emma, and one I can't make out. (Possibly Vegua B.?)

In 1930, I find David MEINHARD, aged 62 & wife Fietta, aged 57, still living in Bowmanstown, Carbon Co., PA. At this time the only child living at home is Emma A., aged 20.

I do not know what happened to my gr-grandmother Cora on the 1910 census, but I believe that I have jotted down that she may have married as early as 1912. I'm not certain who gave me that info, but it seems like it's a possibility as I can't find her on the census with her family.

Cora's sister's still need to be found. I've heard rumor that Mary J. MEINHARD, married an Unknown WHITEMAN. I still need info on the whereabout's and what happened to Beulah MEINHARD? Any help is greatly appreicated!
