Thank you so much for posting this information. It was very informative. Are you a descendent of John Minchin? I'm trying to find out as much as I can about his origins. I believe his daughter, Elizabeth Lightfoot, may have been the first wife of my ancestor, William Lightfoot, but I haven't been able to locate any information regarding her beyond John's will record. John's will, names his son, Humphrey (of S.C), daughter, Elizabeth, and younger sons, Frederick and George, who were children of a woman he was currently living with, and not married to (it also names his brother, Charles, and other brothers in Ireland). From the looks of the 1790 census of Charleston, there may have been more children by his first marriage as well. I have some ideas about how John may be related to the other Minchin's in County Tipperary, but I have yet to confirm my suspicions.

Thanks again,

Keith
