Mr. J.W. Minchin and his son Humphrey Alexander Minchin lived in India in the last quarter of 1800 and early 1900s. Humphrey died in 1913 at the age of 45. He was an Engineer and worked first as a Municipal Engineer in the City of Madurai in the erstwile British Province of Madras in India. Later he moved to the princely state of Travancore as Irrigation Engineer to construct an irrigation dam, which survives even today. He was buried near the dam and his tomb is still there. Both his father J.W Minchin and Humphrey were freemasons of high repute. Humphrey was born in 1868, according our records. He founded a freemasons lodge in Trivandrum, Travancore in 1897 under the English Constitution, which is still going strong under the name Lodge Minchin # 2710 EC. Can some one throw light on his earlier part of life and his genealogy ?. His picture and whatever information is available with us about him as a freemason can be seen at http:/dglmadras.org.in/minchin/Minchin.htm
Any information to bridge the gap between this information and what the genealogy literature on Minchin family has will be gratefully acknowledged.
