I don't know if this info will help or not but here goes.I have a document that was published by a John R. Minchew, Dec. 25th, 1967.A qoute goes as follows: " This report focuses upon that branch of the Minchew family which settled in the northeastern corner of N.C. about seventy years before the Revolutionary War. It focuses particularly upon the ancestry and kindred of Abraham Minchew, who was born in old Dobbs County, N.C., and migrated shortly after 1800 from the area now comprising Greene County, N.C. and resettled in the state of Ga."Now this document is about 35 pages long and is only a copy that I received from someone via the internet. The man that researced and prepared the document was named Charles R. Holloman, Attorney of Raleigh, N.C.There is a John Menshew mentioned with a date of April 1st, 1723 regarding a land grant in Chowan Precinct or Bertie County. This Menshew died between Oct of 1762and Oct 1763. His widow was Martha Menshew. There is a John Minshew in the Federal Census of 1800 for Greene County. Most likely this John is the son of Richard Minshew who may have been the earlier John Minshew's son.
