John Milward born about 1730 and living at Greenhow Hill, Yorkshire
I have been researching my family tree over the past number of years and have some 1500 people in my data base. Earliest documented Milward births in my family tree are of a Milward (first name unreadable in the Pateley Bridge, Yorkshire baptism records), son of John Milward, baptised 09 July 1755; James Milward son of John Milward, baptised 02 December 1760; and Charlotte Milward daughter of John Milward, baptised 23 May 1764 in Pateley Bridge, Yorkshire. The father of all three is given as John Milward of Greenhow Hill, which is some 3 miles from Pateley Bridge, North Yorkshire. These three births would put the father John Milward's birth about 1730. No parish baptism in or immediately around Pateley Bridge for him has been found to date. The Pateley Bridge, Yorkshire baptism records go back to about 1500 although they are hard if not impossible to read in some cases, but I have not found a baptism for a candidate John Milward (of Millward) yet and am still in the hunt. It could be he moved to Greenhow Hill and the Pateley Bridge area from some other location such as, for example, Skipton or York or Sheffield (there are allot of Millwards from that area inparticular). Does anyone out there have any possible information on where a candidate John Milward, born abt. 1730 and mentioned at the top of this note could be from or have any other potential info on him that MIGHT be useful ? If so I would love to hear from you. Cheers.
